Happy New Year

Scottish Highlands

Welcome to my blog in this new year of 2012.  My accompanying graphic is a photo I took when holidaying in my favourite place in the world, the Scottish Highlands.  Throughout last year I supported my posts with my own artwork so I thought in a slight departure I’d use a series of photos from holiday destinations as this year gets underway.

I haven’t been on here for a couple of weeks but I have been busy.  I’ve got two short stories underway and I have one entered into an international competition.  I have already started work on the edit of my NaNoWriMo novel, ‘Hawk, A Human Hunter’.
I am presently assisting a fellow writer and good friend of mine to set up her first attempt at a blog.  I know how difficult I found it since I’ve only been blogging myself for a year.    Progress on that project will come as and when she wishes to broadcast her efforts.  For a while at least I believe it’s right that she keeps her writing under wraps.   I think the finished product will be worth a visit so I’ll be plugging it on here.
Reading material at the moment for me is a continuation into the ‘classics’.  I am presently reading ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ by Thomas Hardy.  I will in time write a review so that can wait.  I now have a reasonable collection of classics lined up so I hope to learn what all the fuss has been about regarding certain books.

Erotica – and other arousing themes

My graphic is to celebrate beautiful ladies and also the launch of Erotica on my menu.  I could have used a naked man, but I don’t have any drawings of naked men in my portfolio … at the moment.  I might to appease the ladies.

I’m not totally naked … I’m wearing a smile …

The NaNoWriMo in November was a time consuming but worthwhile exercise which I thoroughly enjoyed but it did take over the whole of November.  I received a Kindle Keyboard 3G for my birthday in November but was unable to use it until December because I was concentrating my efforts on the NaNoWriMo.  I downloaded a handful of books and as December got underway I decided I’d spend more time reading than writing.

I’ve read ‘Robinson Crusoe’ by Daniel Defoe for the first time since I was about 14.  It was written in the old style but I still enjoyed the tale.  The second book I chose to read was one I’d heard about over the years but never actually read until now, ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’ by D.H. Lawrence.  This story is mentioned in so many writing reference books that it was a must for me.  The story appealed especially since I wanted to introduce an Erotica section to my menu.

It will be erotica as opposed to literary pornography, which being explicitly sexual in nature is quite a different type of writing.  I have two stories downloaded to get started so the sub-menu doesn’t look too bare ….  The first story is ‘Best Foot Forward’ which takes the reader on a train journey.  My second offering is ‘Windows of Opportunity’ and there is a strong hint in both ‘windows’ and ‘opportunity’.

If you do happen by and you’re over 18 please feel free to not only read my attempts at erotica, but also to leave me a comment.  If I don’t have any idea how I’m doing I’ll just have to go on feeling my way with the subject.
