While in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, Helen was part of a routine mobile patrol that the Taliban ambushed. She was one of only two people who survived the roadside explosion, leaving the pair miles from their base, and on foot.
When Helen eventually evacuated back to the UK, she was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. She wasn’t keen on therapy, and soon became a vagrant on London’s streets, living by her wits. Helen’s indomitable spirit and self-reliance brought her to the attention of someone who recognised a survivor and a prospective covert operative.
A new life was available if she was ready.
